Papers like the Kirkland Reporter provide a valuable service for our communities, but many are struggling due to dwindling revenue sources. The Kirkland Reporter has been the local voice of the Kirkland community for the last 35 years. I want to know how it will continue operating in a rapidly changing industry that is beginning to embrace alternative news sources more and more.
During my visit, I want to gain a better understanding about how print media is adapting to this changing environment. Who, and what, are they identifying as their primary sources of revenue? Will they continue with the same price structure for what a paper costs? How much more important will ad revenue be in the future? Does the paper have a digital subscription model, and is it available on mobile?
It is apparent that print media needs to adapt to the changing new industry to continue serving their communities. I want to know what the Kirkland Reporter is doing to survive.
